Schedule Updates for February

Please update your calendar for February in your curling directory with the following changes:

January 31 and February 1 The Gabel has been changed to this weekend due to the fact that Feb. 14 and 15 is also the Dykes and that would mean the Gabel would most likely have low enrollment.
February 1 and 2 The 5 Year and Under has been cancelled.
February 8 Beach Bonspiel – new addition. More information on this bonspiel below.
February 14 and 15 The Colton remains and the Gabel is moved to Jan. 31 and Feb. 1
February 21 Social League without dinner.
February 22 and 23 Erdman Mixed Bonspiel remains. There will be 2 games on Saturday and 1 game on Sunday. The German dinner will be incorporated into this bonspiel and will be held Saturday night. Dean Robbins and Jim Ridenour will be working on these events. See more information below on the German Dinner.
Other Dates to Remember Saturday, March 15th – Saint Patrick’s Day Dinner
March 21st and 22nd - LOVEJOY Bonspiel which needed to be rescheduled
Saturday, March 29th – Closing Party

6:00pm-7:00pm Social Hour
7:00pm Dinner of roast pig and side dishes. Hamburgers and hot dogs also available.

Cost:
$12.00 per adult, includes curling and dinner. $5.00 for children.

Details:
Sign up sheet on bulletin board. Contact Nancy Wurth, Margaret Brennan, or Cathy Haag for more information.

German Night

The dinner for German Night will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, the same weekend as the Erdman Mixed Bonspiel. Jim Ridenour has offered to be the chairperson and will need help with set up, decorations, etc., so please contact him to volunteer. Jim's a sleeper when it comes to cooking. Nobody knows the great culinary talents our head iceman has.

Chairperson and Committee needed for St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

The St. Patrick's Dinner will be held on March 15th and is in need of a chairperson and committee. The usual participants are unable to work this event this year, so, if you like to boil, this event is for you! Please see Margaret Brennan, Cathy Haag or Nancy Wurth for information on running the dinner.

Edison Golf Club Outing

It's not too early to think about eighty degree days, green grass and GOLF! This event is open to all curling club members and their guests. It is normally held on a Friday in July or August. Your day will include 18 holes at the Edison Club, walk or ride, and a barbecue, often held at a member's home, that evening. Lots of people just attend the barbecue. It's a great social event and it just so happens we need some folks to run it! You don't have to be a member of the Edison Club, there are plenty of those around. You can host the barbecue at your home, someone else's home, at a park, hey, your choice if you are in charge. If interested please contact Margaret Brennan, Cathy Haag or Nancy Wurth.

USCA Change in Insurance Coverage

The USCA has changed the insurance coverage policy for liability insurance. All members will need to sign a waiver annually. The form is available at the club. They should be located on the tables before going out to the ice shed. Please fill the waiver out ASAP. Members who do not fill out the form will not be able to step out on the ice and we don’t want that to happen so please make this a priority…Thank you.

USCA Pins – Keep the Rocks Roarin

As president of the curling club it is my responsibility to sell the USCA pins to raise money for the USCA. This is a fund raiser that all clubs participate in. I have a red and black checkered vest that I will place the pins on and wear as I go around asking for donations. Pins that are available: Lead pins (Silver) for a donation of $20 or more or Second pins (Gold/Red/White) for a donation of $35 or more. I will leave the checkered vest with the pins at the bar when I am not at the club. If you are writing a check please make it out to the USCA.

In Appreciation, Jane

Mike the Bartender????????????

I want to take this opportunity to apologize to Tom our bartender. I know it’s Tom, I just had a brain lapse. I was thinking of another bartender in another Club. I belong to many curling clubs and can’t get anything straight.

Sorry Tom, Maureen
