Results of the Senior National Bonspiel held in Chicago February 19th - 22nd

We should all be proud of the Schenectady Men's teams that participated in the National Bonspiel this year in Chicago. The bonspiel rotated between three of the clubs in Chicago: Chicago Club, Exmoor Club and the Northshore Club.

Pete Sheehan, Dave Spencer, Jim Colton and Dean Robbins won their division in the Round Robin, which lead them to the Semi Final game. The Semi Final game was held in the Exmoor Curling Club. They won their game and were off to Finals - literally. After their semi final game finished they needed to head to the Chicago club to in the 1st Event Finals. They rushed to the other club, arrived late and missed being piped on. In the end they were the 1st Event Runners-up in their division. It was a great game. Congratulations!

Bob Mulig, Bob Travis, Jack Fitzgerald and Jim Sinkins also attended the competition and won the 3rd Event in their Division. Congratulations!

It was a great showing for the Schenectady Teams. GOOD CURLING!

Women's Closing Dinner Thursday, April 1st 2004

The Women's Closing Dinner Meeting will be held Thursday, April 1, 2004 with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m.

After dinner we will have a short meeting, present awards, and elect officers for the coming year. PLEASE SIGN UP EARLY! By signing up early it will help the committee make this a really special event.

CLOSING BANQUET

The Closing Party will be on Saturday, April 3rd this year. We are looking for volunteers to help assist and be a part of this event. Please contact Jane Caruvana or Nancy Wurth, if you haven't already, to volunteer.

Little Rocks Bonspiel

The annual Little Rocks Bonspiel was held February 28 with 8 teams from Nashua, Broomstones and Schenectady in attendance. Held as a points bonspiel, Nashua II won, Broomstones I second and Nashua I third. Despite great improvements in form and boundless enthusiasm, the Schenectady teams came in 6, 7, and 8. However, we look forward to attending the Broomstones Little Rocks Bonspiel on March 13th and improving our standing!

If anyone is interested in assisting with the Little Rocks, we could use some experienced curlers out on the ice with them. Stop by the club at 3pm on Sundays. Thanks to Andrea and Dion Warr, Victor Rodriguez and Matt Staccone for splitting their time between the Juniors and Little Rocks this year.

Thank You,
Ann Ruhman
Little Rocks Parent (and first year curler)

Results of the Men's and Women's National Competition in North Dakota

This year Patti Lank's team from Wisconsin and Jason Larway's team from Washington won the National Competition and will be Team USA for Worlds which will be held in Sweden in April. Be sure to visit the website, USA Curling for information and results.

As for Team Maroldo (Caitlin Maroldo, Erlene Puleo, Chrissy Fink, Maureen Fodera and Liz Williams) we came out with a record of 5 and 4. We had some great games and Chrissy and I would like to personally thank everyone in the club for your support and fan mail. It was GREAT to have so many members thinking of us. Thank You!

Schenectady Members Go Above and Beyond for Junior Bonspiel

Andrea and I would like to take this opportunity to give a HUGE THANK-YOU to everyone that helped to make this year's junior bonspiel a success! I will not list specific names because there are too many and I'm afraid of forgetting someone (I could never forgive myself). To the gracious members and parents of our teens that opened their homes to the visiting curlers, THANK-YOU! To everyone on the ice committee who dedicated hours of their time to scrape, mop, pebble and nip the ice so that it was at top performance, THANK-YOU! To the parents and members who shopped, helped with meals, got team boards and signs ready before each draw, and generally did what needed to be done, THANK-YOU! To our chaperones at the dance who had to survive almost a hundred teens, THANK-YOU!

We had 24 teams again this year and actually had to turn some curlers away. It was an excellent time that would not have been possible without all of you. Thank-you so much!

Dion and Andrea
