At the Schenectady Curling Club there are curling leagues for every type of curler!
If you're interested in heavy competition to prove yourself amongst the best at the
club, we've got it. If you're just learning and want to play with other people new
to the sport, we've got that too. Want to play with your husband or wife? Tuesdays
and Fridays are mixed curling. Want to grab three others and put your own team
together. The Open League is just for you. Select the league type you want and see
all the choices that there are!
Graham
The Graham league is for accomplished skips and other curlers with an interest in a higher level of competitive curling from the Pletenik league. All men's curlers are welcome to curl in this league. Teams in this league are selected by draw, but skips may in fact select their thirds. This league will be limited to sixteen teams. This league is named after George Graham, a very skilled curler for many years.
Chairperson: Charlie McCullough
Pletenik
The Pletenik league is for junior skips who have advanced from the O'Malley league. All men's curlers are welcome to curl in this league but skips in the Graham and Van De Car leagues may only curl in the lead and second positions. Teams in this league are selected by draw. This league provides the next level of competitive curling from the O'Malley league. There will be openings for up to sixteen teams in this league. The league is named in memory of Andy Pletenik, a devoted and accomplished curler.
Chairperson: Brian Damon
Van De Car
The Van de Car league is for accomplished skips and other curlers competing at the highest competitive level in the Club. Teams in this league are assembled by skips' choice. This league is usually limited to eight teams only with preference given to the highest four finishers from last year. The remaining four positions are open. If more than three teams are vying for these openings there will be a play down to determine the competitors. This league is named in memory of Hal Van De Car, a former SCC President who was an exceptional curler that devoted many years to the SCC and the Sport of curling.
