The Curling Rink (Team)
A team consists of four players (plus an optional fifth player for competitions).
Each of the four players has a fixed position:
Lead
(position 1, plays mainly draw shots, should be a strong sweeper) the lead delivers the first two stones for the team alternating with the opponent's lead.
Second
(position 2, must be able to throw takeouts, should be a strong sweeper) the second delivers the third and fourth stones for the team.
Third or Vice Skip
(position 3, must be able to play all shots) the third delivers the fifth and sixth stones and is the acting skip when the skip is playing.
Skip
(position 4, team leader and able to play all shots) the skip usually delivers the last two stones (seventh and eighth) of the end. The skip implements the team's strategy.
The Skip doesn't always deliver the last two stones as the rules state that at the start of a game he may decide to play in any position in the delivery rotation of the team.
