Guard

A guard is a stone that is placed between the hogline and the house so that it may protect or potentially protect another stone.

Come Around

A Come Around is a stone that passes the guard closely and stops behind it in the house.

Hit and Stay

A hit and stay is a stone that takes out an opponent's stone by hitting it head-on while remaining exactly in front of the former position of the eliminated stone.

Double Takeout

A double takeout removes two of the opponent's stones at one time.

Hackweight Takeout

A hackweight takeout is a slower played takeout that, because of reduced speed, the stone curls more and there fore can reach opponents stones that are hidden behind a guard. Also known as a Controlled Takeout.
